Starting the Bonding Out Process

You just learned a friend is in jail….What now?

Step 1: Get All the Information

  • Be sure which jail they are in.
  • Is it a county or federal facility?
  • Find out the charge (if possible).
  • Have the person’s full legal name.

Step 2: Contact Us – Available 24/7

  • We’ll ask you some basic questions relating to who, what, where, and why the person is in custody. We’ll also ask you questions about the personal history of the person being held such as where they work, previous arrests, and how long they have been at their current residence.

Step 3: Stay Calm & Be Ready For Calls

  • Go to a place where you can stay a while and receive phone calls. We’ll probably need to contact you several times, so make sure you know the telephone number where you are staying. There is normally no need for you to go to the jail at this time. Call us and we can determine what the next step will be. The person has to be processed which can take several hours. *People who have just been arrested are usually not eligible to see visitors.
  • Try to remain calm – we’re working on your situation as fast as the law allows. We’ll call the facility where your friend is being held and determine exact bail information, so we can develop a plan to get them released. We’ll call you as soon as this determination is made to discuss the plan and make bail arrangements with you.
